STATISTICS
1. CDC reports that 43.1 million Americans suffer from arthritis and that arthritis is made worse by obesity.
2. Surgeon General reports that 27% of Americans are obese and that 61% are overweight.
3. Heart disease is the #1 killer in the U.S., claiming over 720,000 lives / year at a cost of over $320 billion dollars. In addition, 62 million Americans are living with some form of cardiovascular disease.
4. Diabetes is the fastest growing disease in the U.S.
5. 2% of population has a biologic reason for being overweight, 98% has an opportunity to manage their weight through exercise and a reasonable eating plan.
This (12) twelve week voluntary fitness challenge is based on Dr. Paul Kennedy's book "BE FIT - STAY FIT, Why Your Workout Doesn't Work & How to Fix it" (available at www.befitstayfit.com) and "The Zone" by Barry Sears PhD.
